OUR STORY

The Woman Behind the Movement

Shomoy Dormer

I'm Shomoy Dormer, founder of The Mum Stop Shop, a community and platform helping mums build money confidence, grow their own income, and navigate life with more clarity and control.

Before founding The Mum Stop Shop, I spent over 10 years working in local authorities, social care and youth justice. That gave me a real, practical understanding of the systems families move through every day, and it's the foundation everything I do now is built on.

The Mum Stop Shop grew out of that experience and my own journey as a single mother building a better life from scratch. Today it's a community of over 30,000 across Instagram and TikTok, alongside a growing suite of digital tools and resources I've created to help mums put that clarity into practice, including Earn & Claim, The Mum Reset, and a Universal Credit Calculator Companion.

I also deliver workshops for mums directly, most notably Money Confidence for Mums, a live session built to make budgeting, income and financial confidence genuinely accessible, with early institutional collaborations already including Lambeth Council, Black Thrive, the Cabinet Office and the Department for Education.

I work with organisations and brands who want to reach mums authentically, whether that's delivering a workshop for your team or community, or partnering on a campaign that speaks to real family life. If that's you, I'd love to hear from you.

The Four Pillars

Everything, in one place.

Know your Rights

Helping mums claim what they're entitled to. Universal Credit, PIP, childcare funding, housing support and more, without the confusion.

Confidence & Identity

Real support for rediscovering who you are outside of "mum," and rebuilding your sense of self along the way.

Money & Savings

Practical budgeting and saving strategies to help you take real control of your money, one step at a time.

Income Building

Helping mums earn on their own terms. Side hustles, starting a business, returning to work or growing what they already have.

Our Values

What we stand for.

Honesty

We say what needs to be said, plainly and without jargon.

Accessibility

This platform belongs to every mum, regardless of background, income or postcode.

Ambition

We do not just help mums survive the system. We help them build beyond it.

Community

We are stronger together. Real mums, real stories, real support

Real reach. Real impact.
